Margaret Cannon Gresham

Margaret Cannon Gresham, 97, passed away January 17, 2019. She was born Feb. 14, 1921 in Lyon County, Ky. Margaret relocated to Louisville in 1958 and spent the last 13 years living with her grandson, Dr. Mark Chick and his family in Green Cove Springs, Fla. Her careers included being a one-room schoolteacher, home economist for a utility company, and secretary for Jefferson County Schools. She was also a master gardener, world traveler, ballroom dance competitor, missionary secretary in Dominican Republic and Scotland, deacon at Saint Matthews Baptist Church, and member of Hibernia Baptist Church.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Noble Gresham, mother Ethel Pollard Cannon, and father John Orman Cannon.

She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Moody (Tom), Cheryl Shipman; four grandchildren, Brad Moody (Christy), Erica Moody, Mark Chick (Tina), Greg Chick (Angie); seven great-grandchildren, Olivia Moody, Hunter Moody, Quinn Moody, Mason Chick (Kassidy), Melanie Chick, Brooke Chick, Josh Chick; and two great-great-grandchildren Kason and Kaden Chick.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 19, at Pearson’s Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY. with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service.

Remembrances can be made to International Mission Board at in lieu of flowers.
