Allison White, daughter of Ryan and Natalie White, recently took home honors in two different state competitions.

On July 13, White won the 10-year-old division of the 4-H State Communication Day at the University of Kentucky with a speech titled "The History of Music." In her speech, she detailed her favorite musical artists, from Elvis Presley to Taylor Swift. White advanced to the state competition after winning the local and regional contests.

She didn't take much time to rest after her victory, however, and found herself competing at the Kentucky Swimming 12 and Under State Championships from July 19-21 at the University of Louisville's Ralph Wright Natatorium.

White placed 4th in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:15.75, 7th in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 34.25, 9th in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:55.86, 9th in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 39.45, and achieved a preliminary qualification time in 50-meter backstroke of 42.11.

White is a member of the Paducah Swim Team.
