So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies.
He that loveth his wife love himself.
For no men yeteth hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: for we are members of his flesh, body and of His bones.
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and be joined into his wife and they two shall be one flesh.
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Never the less but every one of in particular so love his wife even as himself and the wife that she reveres her husband.
If we would apply this scripture to marriage we could see a lot of parallels.
How would we compare our marriages to the Lord's church? His Word claims we are married to Him and we should treat Him as husband and wife, love each other.
He is the bridegroom and the Church is the bride.
One day soon, He is coming back to get His bride, the redeemed of the ages, His church!
Seven important characteristics should be found in every marriage, especially on the part of the bride.
She needs to feel secure. She needs to feel understood.
She needs to feel appreciated.
She needs to feel loved. She needs to feel needed.
She need to feel appreciated.
She needs to be heard and needs to be treated with tenderness.
According to counselors, these seven are in the right order and priority.
Every trait mentioned is not only a bonanza for a happy marriage, but IS needful for a healthy, intimate spiritual relationship between the bridegroom and the church, the Body of Christ.
Too often marriages are neglected and a chasm of coldness creeps in where there was an intimacy.
Neglect and no attention flourishes like flowers with briars.
If we will heed the previous scripture admonition to love our wives as Christ loved the church, broken relationships would be immediately mended.
Our thinking both to Him and our marriages would turn not to how much do you love me, but how can I show more love to you?
Soon and very soon, the bridegroom (Jesus) is coming for His bride to take her (Those who know Him as Savior) home with Him. Will you be ready when the Bridegroom comes?
Many have broken their marriage relationship in today's society. They have not been faithful to their spouses.
All too many of us have not been faithfully yoked together with believers, but have entered into whoredoms with the world. God, please!
I pray you will help us return to our first love!
