For the third time in 31 years, both the boys and girls Trigg County cross country teams competed in the state tournament.
The teams competed on Nov. 4 in the rain and mud.
The girls team finished in 27th place overall with a score of 609 points. Lexi Ricks led the team, finishing in 77th place with a finish in a time of 22:16. This is Ricks' fifth state competition. She improved her time from last year by 20 seconds and finished 27 places ahead of last year. Livi Ricks, also making her fifth state meet appearance, finished 111th in a time of 22:51. Grace Hill finished 139th with a time of 23:35, followed by DeDe Barbee in 185th with a time of 24:52. Phelan Dossett finished 188th with a time of 25:0, with Kylie Alford in 190th at 25:09, and Breeanna Barnes in194th at 25:14.
The boys team finished their race in 30th place overall. Austin Cavanaugh led the team in 116th with a time of 19:06. He was followed by Apolo Blackbear-Francis in 169th place at 19:53. Alex Skinner followed in 178th place with a time of 20:07. Riley Thompson finished 186th with Marshall Jenkins in 187th, both running the course in 20:17. Carson Woodall finished 221st at 21:16 with Tyler Freeman in 226th with a time of 21:28.
