Memorial services with military honors for David Smith, 72, of Cadiz, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home,with Rev. Geoff Baggett officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
David Smith passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at his home. David was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. After service to his country, he served the citizens of Fort Myers, Florida, as a firefighter for 25 years. After retirement, he settled in Trigg County, where he built his home, as well as homes for other family members. David was a softball coach and always enjoyed a spirited hockey game, but one of his greatest joys in life was his grand children. He was an honorary member of Sons of the American Revolution, Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter, and was a member of Crossroads Fellowship. David loved Jesus and loved to share his faith and testimony with others.
He is survived by one son, Michael David Smith and wife Annie of Madisonville; three daughters, Martha Smith Johnson and husband Rick, of Panama City, Florida, Mary Smith Delorney of Fort Myers, and Monica Smith Trout of Cadiz; eight grandchildren, Jamie (David) Thomas, Rich (December) Johnson, Lacey Smith, David Anderson, Brandon Trout, Alexia Trout, Carson Smith, and Cameryn Smith; three great grandchildren, Jailyn Thomas, Jordyn Thomas, and Aurora Johnson; two brothers, Stewart Smith and wife Susan, of Komoka, Ontario, Canada, and Paul Smith and wife Donna Moreno of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and one sister, Donna Irvine and husband Glenn of Auburn, Ontario, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, B.W. "Grant" Smith and Mary Grace Stewart Smith, and his wife, Linda F. Scott Smith.
