Services for Cecil “Smitty” Smith, 73, of Cadiz, will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz.

Cecil "Smitty" Smith passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019, at his home. Smitty was a United States Army veteran, and had worked as a correctional officer at the Stateville Correctional Center in Joliet, Illinois. He loved and cared deeply for animals and children and always enjoyed their company. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathy Smith of Cadiz; two sons, James (Melanie) Smith of Cadiz, and Charles (Liz) Smith of Huntsville, Alabama; and four grandchildren, Maddie Smith, Millie Smith, Tripp Ricks, and John Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Mildred Gibbs Smith; a brother, Jim Smith; and a sister, Mona Curvey.
