Main Street Program looks for Trigg County bakers

Jason Smith, Food Network's Best Baker in America, will be the celebrity judge at the final competition in Covington.

Bacon. Butter. Bourbon. Nothing is more Kentucky than these three ingredients.

Do you enjoy baking? Do you think you have the best dessert recipe in Kentucky? It is time to show off your baking skills in the Kentucky Main Street Best Baker in Kentucky competition.

The Kentucky Main Street Program is celebrating 40 years with a baking competition. Each county in Kentucky will hold a baking competition in their town. The winner from each county will move on to a regional competition and then to the finals in Covington, Ky., at the end of April.

Trigg County's competition will be held at 5:30 p.m. March 19 at the Renaissance Center on Jefferson Street in Cadiz.

The contestants must use at least 10 percent Kentucky proud products in their dessert and be able to feed at least five judges in the first competition.

Food Network's Best Baker in America Jason Smith will be the celebrity judge at the final competition. Bacon, butter, and bourbon are Smith's favorite ingredients and the theme of the competition.
