For the third year, The Way Christian Youth Center and Southern Kentucky Independent Theater are planning a mystery dinner theater as a fundraiser to expand the ministry and programs offered to youth attending The Way. Production dates are at 6 p.m. March 28, 29 and 30 at and will be presented at The Way, 197 Lafayette St., in Cadiz.
During the past four years, successful fundraisers for The Way and generous donations from churches, community organizations, and individuals have made it possible for The Way's debt on a 1.2 million dollar building to be paid in full as of this February. Proceeds from future fundraisers that are planned for this year will enable The Way to expand existing programs and to add new ministry and discipleship opportunities as they move forward to positively impact students' lives. The dinner theater is one of those planned fundraisers. Other fundraising events include the first night of the Rotary Auction in April, Paula Anderson will be the lead for the sale of stromboli sandwiches. On May 4, The Way will conduct their semi-annual pancake breakfast and yard sale.
During the evenings of the mystery dinner theater on March 28, 29 and 30, audience members will enjoy music, a sit-down meal catered by Hancock's Neighborhood Market, and a performance of "The Purloined Letter." Cast members of the play include David Hazelmyer, Lisa Futrell, Erika Steip, Leisa Hart, Carl Heckman and Ken Traub. Portia Aldridge will direct the performance.
Tickets for this event are $25 and will be on sale at two locations -- The Way, during operating hours: 3:30-6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; and 3:30-9 p.m. Friday; and at Cadiz Ace Hardware: 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
