For over 12 years, the Marshall County Tribune-Courier has been recognizing the accomplishments of local athletes and coaches through the Tribby awards. Nominated by the Tribune-Courier's sports reporter and voted on by readers, the Tribbys are chosen at the end of each sports season. Please help recognize the athletes from the 2019 spring sports teams you think are most deserving and submit your ballot to The Tribune-Courier, 86 A Commerce Blvd., Benton Ky 42025. Deadline for entry is June 21. Winners will be announced in the June 25 edition of The Tribune-Courier.


MCHS -- Will Davis -- Freshman took a spot in the Top 10 at the KHSAA State Track and Field Competition in the 400 meter run

MCHS -- Austin Stockdale -- Named to 2019 Region One All-Tournament Team. As a senior, Stockdale batted .310 (26/84) with 12 RBI's, six doubles, and one home run.

MCHS -- Isaiah Neeble -- Named to 2019 Region One All-Tournament Team. Neeble batted .349 (22/63) with 15 RBI's, eight doubles, and one home run for the season.

Haley Dunn -- First girl to compete for the Marshall County Special Olympics team at the state pentathlon, earning the gold medal

MCHS -- Gracey Murt -- Region One Softball Player of the Year. Murt batted .384 (34/112) with 28 RBI's, seven doubles, five triples, and four home runs. She threw in 25 games with eight wins, 59 hits, 29 runs, and 45 strikeouts for 1,141 pitches her senior season.

CFS -- Edie Little -- Named to the 2019 all-district team for her junior season. Little is the catcher for the Lady Eagles and has a .493 batting average (35/71). She has hit seven doubles, two triples, and 24 RBI's this season.

MCHS -- Addie Young -- Named to the 2019 all-district team. Young has played first base her senior season and batted .317 (33/104) with 10 doubles, two home runs, and 21 RBI's.

MCHS -- Presley Jezik -- Named to the 2019 all-district team. As a sophomore, she has played third base and has a .420 batting average (50/119). Jezik has hit 12 doubles, two triples, and 26 RBI's.

MCHS -- Gabby Lovett -- Named to the 2019 all-district team. As a pitcher for the 2019 season, Lovett has 2110 pitches, 182 hits, 72 runs, 44 strikeouts, and 26 walks.

MCHS -- Tori McCracken -- 2nd Consecutive State Title/Girls High Jump


CFS -- Trevor Jackson -- Girls Softball Coach for CFS Lady Eagles first season of district action

MCHS -- Coach Mallory Newton -- took the Lady Marshals to their second district four title and their second region one title

Memorable Events

Ty Buchmeier hit a bunt that was good for four bases to start the scoring in the Marshall win over Carlisle County in the first round of the region one tournament.

Jordan Riley hit a grand slam over the left field fence at Caldwell County to take the lead and the win by two.

Lady Marshals came back from a seven-run inning by Paducah Tilghman with their own 12-run inning to take the lead and earn the trip to the region one championship game.

The Inaugural Preston Cope Foundation Whiffle Ball Tournament brought over 20 teams together to raise money for the scholarship foundation.

Marshall County tennis players advance to the region one quarter finals

Marshall County Marshals placed first overall at their very own Chuck Gullo Twilight Relays
