Orange Waves host first home meet of the season

Mary Grace Thompson took four first-place finishes against Anna, Illinois, at the Orange Waves home meet last Thursday.

CALVERT CITY -- The Orange Waves had a full week of swim meets starting with Madisonville last Tuesday, a home meet Thursday, and back on the road Saturday in Anna, Illinois.

The dual meet Thursday against Anna got off to a delayed start at Calvert City Country Club, but the home team still performed well taking first place in half of the events.

The Waves relay team of Jaden Topper, Anne-Marie Atkins, Delaney Miller, and Taryn Henry took the girls 13-14 100-yard medley relay and the girls 13-14 200-yard freestyle relay.

Topper finished first in the girls 13-14 50-yard breaststroke.

Atkins also took first place in the girls 11-12 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard individual medley, 100-yard freestyle, and 50-yard breaststoke.

Miller placed first in the 50-yard butterfly, 50-yard freestyle, 50-yard backstroke, and 100-yard freestyle.

The girls 11-12 50-yard backstroke went to Henry.

Lucyanne Long finished first in the girls 8 and under 50-yard freestyle.

In girls 15-18, Mary Grace Thompson placed first in the 50-yard freestyle, the 50-yard backstroke, the 100-yard freestyle, and the 50-yard breaststroke.

Hudson David took first for the Waves in the boys 8 and under 25-yard breaststroke.

In the boys 10 and under, Clay Emerson took first place in the 25-yard freestyle, 25-yard backstroke, 50-yard freestyle, 25-yard breaststoke.

Nikalai Bryan performed well for the boys with a first place in the 15-18 50-yard butterfly, 50-yard freestyle, and 50-yard backstroke.

Kelly Walker took first in the boys 15-18 100-yard freestyle.

The Waves will be competing in Carbondale this Saturday and back at Calvert City Country Club for a home meet July 11.
