U.S. Congressman James Comer representing Kentucky's 1st District (left) visits with Lake Chem Federal Credit Union CEO Connie Evans, Kyle Hagerty with the Kentucky Credit Union League and Kentucky Credit Union League President Debbie Painter during a trip to western Kentucky last week. The credit union representatives and Comer discussed policies and regulations, what's working and what could improve, as well as statistical information regarding Lake Chem's membership and the membership's needs.
Earlier in the day, Comer was at Murray State University Hutson School of Agriculture celebrating the establishment of the Center for Agricultural Hemp. He said MSU, in 2014, became the first university in the U.S. to plant hemp since production was outlawed in the 1930s. He called the announcement "a big win" and said while in the area for the celebration, he wanted to stop and congratulate Lake Chem for their recent expansions as well. Lake Chem recently opened a new office in Murray.
