Calvert City Food Truck Friday will run through Sept. 27 in Doctor's Memorial Park from 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
"Cities across the country have started Food Truck Fridays and shown great success, said Blair Travis, director of marketing and business development for Calvert City.
"On a much smaller scale, we want to do the same type event in Calvert City. Getting visitors into our community, visiting our top-notch parks, and having some great food while they're here is a great way to show off our city and create an experience."
Food trucks have been around over a century and recently have experienced a boom.
"Calvert City supports local entrepreneurs," Travis said. "If you're a first-time entrepreneur, a food truck is a great affordable option in starting a business.
"One local entrepreneur's success could encourage others in the community to pursue their dreams. Calvert City wants to be a champion for local start-up support," said Travis.
Over the last two years, food trucks have become common in Calvert City. The struggle to find a place in the city was difficult. "This event gives food trucks the opportunity to safely park their trucks in a high-trafficked area during lunch time and there is no fee to set up," she added. "Local businesses give a community its vibe. Calvert City is sustainability-focused and an active community. We are always thinking of unique ways to increase the quality of life in our city. If you serve concessions or looking for fundraising opportunities, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to request an event form. Stop by Doctor's Park behind the Marshall County Library @CalvertCity this Friday and experience Calvert City Food Truck Friday."
Every Monday the list of food trucks is posted on the Calvert City Facebook page and Instagram story.
