The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife yesterday released the name of the man who drowned last Thursday on Kentucky Lake.

According to Mark Marraccini, of KDFW, the victim was Erwin S. Barbre, 74, of West Cliff, Colorado. Barbre drowned after falling into Kentucky Lake at his vacation home at 141 Cemetery Hills Rd. near the Hickory Hill area.

Marraccini said rescue personnel located a hat and flip flops on the dock at the home. Recovery efforts got underway shortly after 6 p.m. and the Marshall County Rescue Squad was able to locate Barbre at around 7:30 p.m.

Barbe’s wife told authorities he had been on the dock doing some work.  It is believed a medical condition may have contributed to his falling into the water.

Also assisting were Marshall County Sheriffs Dept., Fairdealing Olive Fire Dept., East Marshall Fire Dept., Ky Fish/Wildlife, Marshall County Coroners Office, and Central Dispatch.
