Lyon County Varsity Lyons grab lead in fourth inning over Dawson Springs

The Lyon County Varsity Lyons took the lead late to defeat Dawson Springs 12-1 on Monday. The game was tied at one with the Lyons batting in the top of the fourth when Brady Darnall singled on the first pitch, scoring one run.

The Lyon County Varsity Lyons secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the sixth inning. Taylor Carney, Gunnar Bingham, Travis Yancy, Jake Klueppel, and Christian O'Daniel powered the big inning with RBIs.

Dawson Springs managed to get on the board in the first inning on an error but any attempt the rest of the game were shut down by the Lyons defense.

In the top of the third inning, the Varsity Lyons tied things up at one when Bingham singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

The Lyons were able to pull away for good with in the fourth inning on Darnall's single.

The Varsity Lyons stacked up seven runs in the sixth inning. The Lyons' offense in the inning came from singles by Taylor Carney and Jake Klueppel, a walk by Yancy, a fielder's choice by Bingham, and a double by O'Daniel.

Christian Whalin got the start for Lyon County Lyons Varsity.

He went six innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out three and walking zero.

Kameron Orten started on the mound for the Panthers.

He lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out two and walking one.

No. 16 threw one inning in relief.

The Varsity Lyons collected 12 hits. Klueppel, Darnell, O'Daniel, Bingham, and Gabe Board all collected multiple hits for the Lyons. Board, Bingham, O'Daniel, Darnell, and Klueppel all led with two shots a piece.

Dawson Springs totaled five hits in the game.

Ethan Garrison and Talan Moore all had multiple hits for Dawson Springs.
