The Lyon County Lady Lyons slide into a blow-out win over Ballard Memorial in the first round of a double header at home Friday Night.
The Lady Lyons got things moving in the first inning when Sydney Melton's single and a stolen base was followed up by a single from Calista Collins, giving the Lyons the first run of the night.
Ballard only picked up one run in the top of the second inning when Green's single drove in Calvin who was put into scoring position on a couple of stolen bases.
Shortly after a double play at second and first would send the Lady Lyons to bat where they would put up three more runs. Kyra Craft, Tori Schenk, and Calista Collins all contributed in the big inning with doubles, while Rachel Coursey added to the board with a single.
The Lady Lyons put up two more runs in the 4th inning to seal the fate of the bombers 7-1.
Allye Culp led things off in the circle for Lady Lyons. She allowed six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out two and walking zero.
Fields was on the rubber for Ballard Memorial. She allowed seven hits and five runs over two innings, walking one. Elrod threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.
The Lady Lyons saw the ball well, racking up 12 hits in the game. Collins, Coursey, and Melton all managed multiple hits for the Lady Lyons. Coursey and Collins both had three hits to lead Lady Lyons.
Ballard Memorial tallied six hits. Elrod and Green all had multiple hits for Ballard Memorial.
The second half of the double header wouldn't go quite as planned for the Lady Lyons.
The Lady Lyons watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in the second half of the contest, suffering a 18-7 loss.
