At the Lake Barkley Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner last week, Lyon County Elementary School teacher Ashley Davis was presented with the Brenda Barnett Educator of the Year award.
“I will say, I was shocked, and honored, and humbled by it,” said Davis. “It’s nice to be recognized by somebody, even though I believe there’s so many people in this school district that deserve the award, also.”
Davis has been a Special Education teacher since 2000, and this is her eighth year at Lyon County. She and her husband, Kyle Davis, own Lyon County Animal Hospital on Trade Avenue in Eddyville and have two daughters, Mary Beth and Lauren, who both attend Lyon County Middle School.
“Ashley Davis is a ray of sunshine,” shared Lyon County Elementary Principal Amy Perdue. “She is always smiling and maintains a positive attitude no matter the obstacles. She is not only a phenomenal teacher, she is an incredible person.”
“She has a heart for all students and works hard to meet their individual needs,” Perdue continued. “She collaborates with all teachers in the building and communicates well with parents to ensure student success. She doesn’t let anything get her down, and inspires those around her to give their best.”
